Everything You Need to Know About Joining WIM
Is Student membership really free?
Yes. Completely and always. If you are a student in law, GRC, legal technology or a related field, you join for free. Full stop.
How does mentor matching work?
We review your application personally, consider your goals, background and interests, and match you with a mentor whose experience speaks directly to where you want to go. We aim for personal matching only, no algorithm.
Can I join if I am based outside the UAE?
Absolutely. WIM has active chapters in the GCC, Africa. Europe, Asia and soon expanding to the US and Canada. Our online events are accessible globally. Our WhatsApp community connects members across time zones. Geography is not a barrier.
Do I need to be based in the UAE?
Not at all. WIM has chapters in Egypt, GCC, Kenya, South Africa, and West Africa and we’re growing. Online events are accessible globally.
What is the WIM WhatsApp Community?
A 300-member strong, always-on community space where WIM members connect, share opportunities and support each other. Includes a dedicated job board channel, a mental health and wellness channel and regional chapter groups with dedicated events and resources. Access details shared upon membership approval.
How long does the mentoring programme run?
Typically six to twelve months with flexibility for both parties for 1-1 mentoring. We encourage relationships to continue naturally in the community with group mentoring.
What happens after I apply?
We review every application personally. Not automated. If we need more information, we will reach out directly.
Can I be both a mentor and a mentee?
Yes. Many members are at a stage where they learn from someone more senior while supporting someone more junior. WIM actively encourages this model.
I graduate next year. Can I transition from student to professional membership?
Yes, and we make that transition easy. Reach out when the time comes and we will handle the rest.
